I use a pair to control the bidirectional solenoids which action N gauge model railway points, and which surprisingly take 2A at 12V. I pulse at 50ms, controlled by a 5V Arduino. I paralleled up the 4 inputs from the two L298s and switched the 4 enables individually. I started off with a twin L293 Uno shield which worked a treat, but when I measured the coil resistance of the solenoid at 6ohms I decided that running the L293s at nearly double their pulsed maximum was not a good idea. You don't need to use a driver library either, unlike with the L293, unless you need motor speed control which I don't.

The L298n is a great DC motor driver with these models being well made and overall great value for money.They are easy to use for beginners, working with Arduino and ESP boards alike and they function at a wide range of voltages and can supply decently high current.They also provide a 5V output which can be used to power a microcontroller such as an Arduino or ESP too which makes them really easy to work with.The only drawbacks with the L298n is that they’re quite big components and do have a voltage drop of around 2V (if 10 volts is supplied to the motor driver the motors will only get around 8 volts) but that’s the nature of all L298n motor drivers, not just these models.

J’utilise ce produit pour le contrôle moteur à base d’arduino. Après différents tests croisés, je me suis rendu compte qu’un des contrôleurs était hors service. Il en reste toujours quatre qui font le travail ( pour l’instant).Je préfère ne pas renvoyer l’ensemble et je ne sais pas comment joindre le fournisseur car apparemment il n’y a pas de service après vente d’assuré.
